Kampala, Uganda – Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has lauded the Indian Business Forum (IBF) for their significant contributions to Uganda’s economic growth, as the organization gears up to celebrate its 10th Anniversary in the country.
Speaking this morning after meeting a delegation from the forum led by their Director General, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, Tayebwa emphasized the critical role the IBF plays in fostering investment and economic transformation in Uganda.
“The Indian Business Forum is an instrumental partner in Uganda’s journey towards economic prosperity. Their focus on business process outsourcing and investments in key sectors such as health, agriculture, manufacturing, and real estate has had a profound impact on job creation, industrial growth, and the well-being of Ugandans,” Tayebwa remarked.
The IBF’s decade-long presence in Uganda has been marked by landmark contributions to the business ecosystem, including the promotion of public-private partnerships and innovative solutions tailored to address local challenges. Their efforts have helped attract foreign direct investment (FDI) while creating opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to thrive.
Tayebwa expressed his pride in associating with the forum, emphasizing its role as a bridge between Uganda and India. "The strong relationship between our two countries has been enhanced by forums like IBF, which serve as catalysts for collaboration in trade, technology, and innovation. I am delighted to see their efforts bear fruit over the past ten years," he stated.
As the IBF prepares to celebrate this milestone anniversary, their Director General, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, revealed that the forum’s mission for the next decade would focus on deepening ties with local businesses and advancing skills transfer in key industries. "We are committed to partnering with Ugandans to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development," he said.
The Deputy Speaker pledged Parliament’s continued support for initiatives that strengthen Uganda’s investment climate, attract more foreign investors, and create a conducive environment for businesses to flourish.
The 10th Anniversary celebrations are expected to highlight the enduring partnership between Uganda and India while showcasing the achievements of the IBF over the years. It will also provide a platform for strengthening business ties and exploring new investment opportunities.
